A closer look at the decisions behind the building.
Project Story
This project was Chegall Group's first modern facade in Bandar Abbas. At a time when classic stone facades were common, we introduced floor-to-ceiling windows and a minimalist design language to the city. The project site had liquefiable soil, requiring excavation to a depth of 7.5 meters and complete soil replacement. To maintain the modern language in the facade, we used limestone with a uniform texture, which, although visually harmonious, presented many execution challenges.
In a city steeped in tradition and warmth, we believed in creating space for light, air, and honesty. The Dey building was our first bold step into contemporary design in Bandar Abbas—a move involving both risk and responsibility.
