In construction, there is an ever-present temptation to believe that micromanaging every variable produces a superior outcome. Yet a development is far more than concrete and steel; it is an ecosystem of people, expectations, relationships, and inherent uncertainties. Anahita confronted me with a vital realization: 'building cheaper' is never synonymous with 'building better'. The person who lives with my choices is a family who, for decades, will open those windows each morning, walk upon those floors, and lean against those walls.

Years after completing the 'Ka' project, I discovered that what I did on site that critical afternoon had an established engineering term: a 'Sedimentation Basin'. Before that day, I had never heard the term. I only knew that rushing water was washing away the soil beneath our foundations, and if I didn't stop it immediately, the entire project would grind to a halt.
